First Ladies Collection by Madame Alexander

We are pleased to announce that the Alexander Doll Company is reintroducing their famous First Ladies Collection in 2008. Each of the 3 dolls to be introduced this year are 8" Wendy Madame Alexander Dolls specifically chosen because of their popularity. They include: Dolly Madison, Mary Todd Lincoln, and Eleanor Roosevelt. Each comes with a descriptive bio card.

As her contribution to America's Bicentennial, Madame Alexander premiered the First Ladies Doll Collection in 1976 to honor the women who helped shape our country, dressing each doll in reproductions of inagural ball gowns.

In fact, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos, Texas, will be exhibiting a personal collection of First Ladies this year on President's Day as a tribute. (Incidentally, the Alexander Doll Company is the only remaining major manufacturer of handcrafted dolls in America, and is celebrating their 85th anniversary this year).

We here at Beacon's Glow Collectibles will be anxiously awaiting the introduction of Lady Bird Johnson, who holds a special place in the heart of Texans.

85th Anniversary of Madame Alexander Dolls

2008 marks the 85th Anniversary of the Alexander Doll Company. To commemorate this very special event, Madame Alexander is introducing some incredible dolls:

1. For the 21" Cissy collector, only five new designs are being introduced this year. Three of the five designs are limited to only 85 pieces in celebration of their anniversary. Each Cissy doll is very different and far more elaborate in detail and construction than any Cissy dolls previously produced.

2. As a result of the overwhelming success of last year's Captivating Swashbuckler Cissy doll, Madame Alexander will be introducing a 16" Swashbuckler Shadow Doll!

3. In regards to 8" Wendy, a new collection of Sleeping Beauty Fairies (Flora, Fauna, and Meriweather) are being introduced, and sure to be a favorite of collectors. New popular Disney favorites include Bambi, the Jungle Book, and a special hand-carved wooden Pinocchio. And, if that isn't enough to whet the Wendy collector's appetite, the Alexander Doll Company will introduce a new collection of 8" White House Presidential First Ladies dolls.

4. Additionally, there will be Ugly Betty dolls; Fancy Nancy dolls; Strawberry Shortcake; Care Bears; and Where the Wild Things Are dolls. For most of these new dolls, 8" Wendy dolls will be produced, as well as 18-inch cloth dolls.

(For those of you who hadn't heard, currently Fancy Nancy is one of the hottest children's literary characters on the market).

This is going to be an incredible year for both the Alexander Doll Company, as well as collectors. We here at Beacon's Glow Collectibles hopes to start receiving in some of these incredible dolls in the next several weeks. Please stay posted for further information.

Phantom of the Opera by Steiff (EAN 037184)

Last night we received in our shipment from Steiff which included the incredible Phantom of the Opera (EAN 037184). These were ordered months ago, and we were somewhat disappointed that they did not arrive in time for Christmas ordering, but then again, good things come to those who wait, right?

This wonderful brown mohair teddy bear comes from a limited edition of 2000 pieces worldwide. His nose and bear claws are embroidered by hand, and he has a mask and a rose embroidered on his black velvet cape.

As Steiff says, "there is a secret hidden deep down inside of him". If you talk to this Teddy Bear he will play you one of seven emotional tunes from the Phantom of the Opera musical and you can actually choose which tune you would like to hear. In his tummy, he has an exclusively developed voice-controlled music box. You can even adjust the volume by your voice also. This teddy bear, of course, understands both English and German.

Marie Osmond 100 Years of Kisses Has Arrived

We are excited to announce that we have received in a limited supply of Marie Osmond's "100 Years of (Hershey's) Kisses" dolls.

These adorable dolls commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Hershey's Kiss chocolate. When these irresistible chocolate candies were introduced back in 1907 each and every Hershey's Kiss was hand-wrapped.

100 Years of Kisses comes dressed in a chocolate brown satin dress with royal blue sleeve insets and netting. A silver and royal blue ribbon is tied around her waist, as well as her cute brunette pigtails. She holds a Hershey's Kiss in the palm of her hand and has that same cute look on her face as all of Marie's Hershey's Chocolate porcelain dolls. Incidentally, every Hershey's chocolate doll that Marie Osmond Dolls produces is sculpted by the very talented doll artist, Ping Lau.

We here at Beacon's Glow Collectibles are curious if Marie will introduce a 100 Years of Kisses Tiny Tot in the upcoming year.
