Fluffy is a 2016 URSA Award Winner!

2016 has been a fantastic year for Brenda, the owner of Beacon's Glow Collectibles.  She found out just the other day that Fluffy (pictured above) a Minky Hare that she created has won either 1st, 2nd, or third place in the 2016 URSA Awards.  She will find out in October which place she won when the Bears&Buds online magazine is published.

According to the Bears & Buds website, "The URSA Awards are a worldwide competition that feature exquisite and unique bears/buds created by teddy bear and soft sculptured artists."

Each category is limited to 20 entries, and there are many categories.

New! Bunting Babies for Minky Bears

Brenda, Owner of Beacon's Glow Collectibles, was waiting for the final item to complete her latest creation - Bunting Babies.  These miniature baby dolls were made to go with her Minky Bears.  If a doll can have a teddy bear, why can't a teddy bear have a doll?  But seriously, these handmade baby dolls can be placed with other dolls as well. They would fit in nicely with either a Madame Alexander doll or possibly a smaller Helen Kish doll.

Pictured above is our Minky Bear model, Bubbles, holding two of the baby bunting dolls in his arms.

Each baby doll measures approximately 3 inches in length and has a detailed, hand-painted polymer clay face.  Their hair is made from a fine application of mohair and comes in either light blonde, medium brown, or dark brown.

A hand-crocheted baby bunting holds each baby and is made from very soft angora yarn or mohair yarn.  Several colors will be offered and if you are looking for a specific color, please do not hesitate to ask and we will try our best to track it down for you.

Also included is an antiqued silver baby pacifier which has been attached to the baby bunting.

Minky Bear Bubbles and the 2014 TOBY Award Competition

It was definitely worth a try but Brenda's little Minky Bear, Bubbles, did not make it to the TOBY(Teddy Bear of the Year) finals.  Bubbles was entered within the "Small Dressed Bear" category.

But that does not mean that she will not stop trying. :)

Brand New - Minky Bears

So. what exactly is a Minky Bear?  A Minky Bear is a hand-made teddy bear made from recycled vintage mink fur that has been created by Brenda, the Owner of Beacon's Glow Collectibles.

Each Minky Bear is a precious 6-inch tall teddy bear made from vintage mink fur.  This one-of-a-kind teddy  is entirely hand-stitched and 5-way jointed using cotter pin-disc joints. Every teddy has black German glass eyes and hand-sculpted Polymer clay nose.  Faces have been carefully scissor sculpted.  Minky Bears are filled with a mix of wood wool excelsior and wool blend poly and just a touch of steel shot to give them just the right about of heft.  Each bear has been fully lined for durability. Additionally, all have ultra-suede paw pads.  These adorable Minky Bear comes with a Swarovski crystal heart with pearl accents hanging on a cord around her neck. 

Trust us - once you pick up one of these litttle cuties, it is very difficult to put them down again.
