We Are Deeply Saddened

We received the news that Pauline Bjonness-Jacobsen, creator of the infamous "Dolls by Pauline" and "Paulinette" lines of dolls, passed away this past Saturday, October 7, 2006, after a long struggle with cancer.

Her son, Ernst, emailed us late last night with the following:

"Dear Friends,
We have heartbreaking news to share with you. Pauline passed away in the early morning of Saturday, October 7th. Throughout her last days, Pauline remained enthusiastic about designing and had her sketch pad and artwork with her.
She remained hopeful about her recovery and excited about all the things which she wanted to do. We will miss her so very, very much but she will always be in our hearts.
I have attached the memorial details we are sharing with family and friends.
We will have an area where we will display photos of Pauline, flowers that she so enjoyed, some of her artwork, as well as a display containing emails, letters and copies of posted messages from the message board on the Pauline Collectibles website.
Warm regards, Ernst"

Pauline will be deeply missed by us all, and never forgotten. . . .

Quote for the Day -
"Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room,
I am I and you are you;
Whatever we were to each other,
That we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used,
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we shared together.
Let my name ever be the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well."

Ginny Christmas Dolls

We were fortunate to get several Vogue Gingerbread Boy and Gingerbread Girl Vintage Ginny Dolls, as we have been informed by the Vogue Doll Company that "For Santa's Reindeer" has already sold out.

These two dolls make an adorable pair as each is dressed in a brown gingerbread outfit and holds a miniature metal gingerbread cookie cutter in their hand. Gingerbread Boy wears a holiday red scarf and knit winter's hat, and Gingerbread Girl wears a cute crimped hat.

Supplies are very limited so if you are interested, we might suggest that you purchase them in the very near future.

The Origin of the Company Name Beacon's Glow Collectibles

Oftentimes, our customers ask how the name of our company, Beacon's Glow Collectibles, came to be. The owner of our company came up with this company's name when the company was formed back in the Fall of 2003.

She has always had a love for lighthouses (in fact, she has her own lighthouse dollhouse that she built several years back that even has a working beacon). The calming and serene feeling that one's gets at nighttime when watching a lighthouse beacon is beyond words. The beacon glow is indeed mesmerizing and yet rather mystical at the same time.

Hence, a love for collectibles and a love for lighthouses helped in creating the name "Beacon's Glow Collectibles".

Quote for the Day - "The glow of inspiration warms us; it is a holy rapture."

Boyd's Star Spangled Nick Christmas Set

We were very fortunate to receive in today Boyd's Star Spangled Nick Christmas Sets. If you have never gotten the opportunity to see one of these sets, they stand a full 3 feet tall and are very impressive-looking. Star Spangled Nick comes elaborately dressed in an Americana Santa's outfit, and has an incredible looking face and soft white beard. The image just does not do him justice. This set has been retired by Boyd's so once these are sold, they will no longer be available.

He is either holding or surrounded by Boyd's Old Glory Collection bears - Jennie Glorybear, Old Glory Peeker, Ike Glorybear, and Bess. All of these items are now retired but we still have a few left in stock.

Additionally, Star Spangled Nick holds a large patriotic star ornament and a distressed wooden cart painted in red, white and blue sits atop the very sturdy base. In addition to Bess, a decorative heart-shaped box is nestled within the wooden cart. A small wooden drum with "USA" written on the front completes this set.

This is a must have Christmas decoration that will impress family and friends over the holidays with its impressive size and excellent attention to detail. Truly a collectible that can be passed down for generations.
